    You were curled up on the couch, a huge blanket draped over your figure. It was snowing outside, something that didn't happen often. The city that could be seen as one of the most dangerous places were becoming calm and safe due to the snow that was covering it. How could snow make everything look so nice and calm? You knew the truth about this city. You knew all the dirty parts and the hidden cracks. People who lived in the city couldn't hide from those parts forever. It didn't help that you were dating Shizuo Heiwajima, one of the more dangerous occupants of the city. This meant that you got dragged into everything. You were part of things more than normal inhabitants of the city.

    With tea in your hand, you glanced down at the book that was in your hand. You were reading an old Neil Gaiman book that you had gotten as an early Christmas present from your parents. They didn't like in Ikebukuro with you, instead, they lived off in the country in Europe, where you were originally from. You weren't able to see them often but you kept in contact over the phone and through chat rooms. They wanted to give you one present early and have you save the rest of them for the day of Christmas.

    Shizuo didn't celebrate the holiday often, but with dating you, you had gotten him to celebrate it more. You even had a beautiful tree. It wasn't the biggest and it drooped in some places, but it was perfect for you. You couldn't ask for a better tree. The two of you had decorated it together with ornaments, some you had made while others had been store bought. Shizuo had an easy time dealing with the tree and the heavier decorations. You weren't surprised. You knew he would be able to since he had such a high amount of strength. You never doubted whether he would be able to pick something up or not.

    He was just getting back from his job of being a bodyguard. You never asked about his job because he didn't like talking about it. That was a part of his life that was left at the door when he returned home. He needed a place where his strength wasn't the only thing that people focused on. You loved him for his personality and you weren't terrified of him. At first, he didn't believe that but as he began to open up to you, you were able to show how you felt about him. As time passed, he began to trust you more. It took awhile, but after two years of the two of you getting close to each other, he decided to accept his feelings for you.

    "What are you doing?" He asked, taking the sunglasses he always wore off. He placed them down on the table before brushing the snow off his shoulders and out of his hair. He must have been walking out in it with how he looked. He always travels with that job. He would follow Tom around to collect debts and to rough up people if he needed to. He was wearing his normal outfit and you couldn't help but wonder if he was cold being out in the snow. He must have been.

    "Reading and watching the snow, wanna join me?" You opened up the blankets to offer him a spot, which he ended up taking. He didn't sit as close to him as you would have liked, but you understood he needed space. He wasn't a huge touchy guy. He still worried about hurting you without meaning to, but you never worried about that. He would never hurt you, you knew that. Even if he did, it would be an accident.  I would forgive him, but I know he wouldn't forgive himself.

    "Are you ready for Christmas?" You asked him, setting the book down and placing a bookmark where you had just finished reading. Your eyes wandered to the window to stare out at the snow. It was your favorite. Where you came from, it snowed a lot so it was a bit strange to move somewhere where the snow was rare. It rained here most of the time and you hated it. Rain made you feel sad and depressed.

    "I guess..." He shrugged, starting to put his guard down. He was relaxing and allowing himself to mold into the couch. He wasn't sitting upright almost like a soldier anymore. He was slowly getting closer to you.

    "You'll love the stuff I got for you." Your shoulder touched his side and your head rested on his own shoulder. Your eyes were staring up at the snow, which meant that you couldn't see Shizuo's eyes. If you would have been looking at him, you would have seen the love and adoration in his eyes which were following your movements. He was staring at you and wondering how he got so lucky to have you be with him. Yes, he knew he didn't deserve it. But he was a selfish man.

    "It's okay if I don't,"

    "I know you will," A smile streched on your face. He could be cold, trying to hide his feelings, but you knew the truth. You had gotten to know him well enough that you could read his body movements and understand his true feelings.

    "I love you..." You mumbled out, slowly looking up at him. He was shocked by the sudden words but he couldn't help but let a smile form on his own face. Those words coming from your mouth were as sweet as vanilla extract. Those words never affected him like this before but when they came from your lips, they were so different. They meant something. You truly loved him.At first, when you said it to him, he thought you were lying. Yet, he knew he was wrong. He wanted to be right at first but then you began to make him happy and he wanted you to stay. He got addicted to you.

    "I love you too..." He leaned down and captured your lips together for a short but sweet kiss before sitting back up, "Don't worry. I'll love your presents and you'll love mine."

    "Can you tell me now?" You looked up at him with puppy dog eyes.

    "No, it is a surprise."

    "Pleaseeee~?" You whined, bumping his shoulder.

    And the sweet moment was gone, the two of you were back to teasing each other. Or better, you had gotten back to teasing Shizuo who kept putting you down (in a loving way). Sweet moments like that were always short but even in these moments, you both still loved each other. These moments weren't as sweet, but they didn't make you feel any less for the other person. You loved each other. Shizuo knew he was selfish to keep you around but what he didn't now was;

    So were you.
