"It's not that great of a name, but someone has called me "Laugh Maker" I've brought you a smile Its cold so let me in"
Kyo couldn't remember the last time that he had left his room that week. He only would head out whenever he needed food and use the bathroom, but other than that, he had been stuck in his room. No, stuck wasn't the right word. That made it sound like it wasn't his choice to stay in there. It was. He had been having a hard time the past few days. His mind kept getting stuck on him being a monster.
Yuki wasn't helping; every time he would pass Kyo's door, he would make some comment about him being a monster. The two always fought, but this was starting to get almost like Akito's abuse. The two of them had gotten into a large fight last week and they hadn't even come close to resolving it. Shigure tried to get Yuki to apologize to him, but it was no use. The two were never going to apologize to each other unless forced.
So, Kyo had stayed in his room, angry tears streaming down his face. Why did he have to be cursed as the cat? Why couldn't it have been someone else, anyone else!? He hated it. He was a monster! He was never going to fit in anywhere. He just wanted to stay in his room for the rest of his life, waiting until he turned to dust. It wasn't that he was sad depressed, but more on the lines of angry depressed. He wasn't sad because of his circumstances, he was angry. He was pissed to be the cat.
But, one day, while he was in his room, crying quietly and breaking things, he heard a knock on the door behind him. His eyes widened and he assumed that it was just Yuki trying to mess with him again.
"Go away, you rat!" He shouted, making sure to keep his voice angry and level so it didn't sound like he was crying.
"Rat? I'm not a rat," You said, hands resting on your hips, "I heard that you've been sad since you haven't been at school. So I've come to deliver you a smile! My name is the laughmaker!"
Kyo knew who the voice belonged to. It was a girl at his school who always tried to get him to be happy and smile, no matter what. At first, he thought it was annoying, but when he realized that she would stop if she was really getting on his nerves, he accepted her persistence. As long as she respected his boundaries, then he was fine. But why had she come to his house? How did she even know where he lived?
Laugh Maker? This isn't a joke! I don't remember calling someone like that
Don't mind me and disappear If you're there I can't cry

"Laughmaker?! That must be a joke! Just leave me alone!" Kyo shouted out at the person, head banging against the door as he leaned his back on it. He didn't want help, it wouldn't work. He was a monster and there was nothing that could change that. You would only be wasting your time if you stayed here. So, you should just leave and go back home.
He began to wonder how you had even figured out where he lived. Had Yuki put you up to this? He must have noticed that you were one of the only people that Kyo even talked to, though he normally only grunted out short responses with you. Still, he must have noticed that Kyo was okay with you, unlike all the other girls. You were one of the rare girls who didn't try to drape yourself over him.
His fists clenched, though he wasn't sure why. Why was he so angry that Yuki had put you up to this? Was it because he hated Yuki, or was it something else?
In the severely flooded room, The sound of a knock flew in
That guy is still here? Didn't I say for you to disappear?
"You're the first person to tell me that in my life
I'm really sad now What should I do? I think I'm going to cry"
Minutes passed and Kyo assumed that you had left when he heard another knock on the door. He narrowed his eyes and turned to face the door, thinking that if he faced it, you would be able to hear him better. Since you didn't listen to him the first time, he assumed that you hadn't heard him, or that you didn't care. He was going to make sure that you heard him this time.
"Hey, didn't I tell you to go away?!" He shouted, "I thought that I told you to disappear!"
It was a few moments before he heard you say anything,
"O-Oh...You're the first person to tell me that, ever...I-I don't know how to react..What should I do..? I-I think I might cry.." Your back hit the door gently and slid down to the ground, tears forming in your eyes. You weren't sure why his words affected you so much, but you felt terrible now. A knot had formed in your stomach and you felt the hot tears run down your cheeks.
You tried to keep yourself from crying loudly, but Kyo was still able to hear your whimpers and hiccups from the other side of the door.
Laugh Maker? This isn't a joke! It can't be helped if you cry
I'm the one who wants to cry I don't remember calling someone like you

"You have to be kidding!" Kyo shouted, arms crossed over his chest, "How can you call yourself a laughmaker if you are going to be crying! You are terrible at your job! I'm supposed to be the one crying, not you!"
Kyo felt bad for making you feel sad, but he wasn't sure how he could fix it. Maybe if he just left you alone, you would just go away. You would deal with your sadness somewhere else. You might never want to see Kyo again, but he was okay with that...He didn't want to ruin your life because of his sadness. Plus, why would you want to be friends with a monster? If you saw the real him, you would never want to see him again...Maybe it would be better for both of you if you just left before you saw the real him.
He sighed, his legs spread on in front of him. Even though he was hoping that you would just go away, he couldn't help but have a knot in his stomach. It was a feeling that he wasn't used to. He wanted you gone, but at the same time, he didn't. He didn't want to be alone again, even though that was what the cat was best at, being alone. He also didn't want to have you leave feeling terrible.
He might not have wanted you to get close to him, but that didn't mean that he didn't care about how you felt. He wanted you to be happy, something you were always trying to make him be. But, instead, he had made you feel bad enough that you were now crying. Why couldn't he do anything right?! Guess that was just the monster way, unable to do anything the right way.
The voices of two people crying Faraway.....
With our backs against each other with the door between us Crying voices mixed with hiccups
Hugging our knees with our backs against each other Completely tired out crying voices

"It's the only thing I live for If I don't make you laugh I can't go home"
Kyo didn't know when he decided to try to make you feel better, but he cleared his throat. He needed to say something since it was obvious that you weren't going anywhere. He could still hear your quiet whimpers and hiccups on the other side of the door. He was surprised that someone else in the house hadn't heard you and checked. Maybe they were all out.
"Hey, do you still want to make me laugh?" Kyo's rough voice called out, breaking you from your sobbing.
"It is the one thing that I live for. If I don't make you laugh, then I can't go home." You said, though that wasn't true. You obviously weren't an actual laughmaker, even if you called yourself that. You just wanted to make Kyo happy and you had hoped that this mask of a person would help, but it seemed useless. Maybe you really should give up, but when you heard Kyo's voice, you felt determination stir in your stomach. You couldn't stop just yet.
"Fine.." A gruff voice said from the other side of the door.
I thought maybe I can let you in but,
The problem is the door won't open Its the pressure of the collected tears
Push the door from your side Its already unlocked
Say un or sun or something like that
"I would let you in, but the door is just stuck because of all the tears that I've cried in this room. The door is already unlocked on your side." Kyo was lying, trying to play the game with you. He thought that it might make you feel better. His back was pressed hard against the door, making it seem like it would be unable to open. He felt slightly better while doing this, his mind being taken off of the idea that he was a monster.
He was focused on you and wanted to make sure that you felt better. He was reminded of everything that you had ever done for him, which was quite a bit. You always were trying to make him happy or smile, which rarely happened. Though, he didn't frown when he was around you. He just had a neutral look, which was enough for you. You just wanted to make sure that he didn't hate you, which he didn't.
You would do simple things for him like bringing him a drink or his favorite candy on some days, while other times you did a bit more big things like packing him a homemade bento lunch. You started making him lunch when you noticed that he wasn't eating, which worried you. So, you started to bring him lunches, which he slowly began to accept.
Now it was his turn to give back to you...
Whats wrong? Hey, it can't be
Laugh Maker? This isn't a joke! Now you leave me behind by myself
You disappeared without minding me You betrayed me in the instant that I believed in you
Laugh Maker? This isn't a joke! The sound of the window breaking on the other side
Holding an iron pipe and with a crying face "I brought you a smile"
But, where were you? He couldn't hear your voice anymore. Were you going to respond to what he just said? That was when he realized that you had left the other side of his door. He wasn't sure when, but he could feel the rage boiling in his stomach.
"Laughmaker! How could you leave me, just when I started to trust you, just when I started to believe in you!" Kyo shouted at the door, standing up, his fists at his side, "I thought you wanted to give me a smile! You aren't going to do that by-" He was cut off by the sound of glass breaking on the other side of the room. He quickly spun around to see you standing there with an iron pipe in your hand.
Tears in your eyes, you shouted, "I am here to bring you a smile!"
Kyo hurried over to you and made sure that you didn't step on any of the glass that was now on the floor. He didn't want you to get hurt because of his stupidity. He didn't think that you were going to take this that seriously. He thought that you were just going to try hard to get in through the door and then go away, to try another day. He didn't think that you were going to break his window to get inside.
"Why did you do that?" He growled out, making sure you didn't have any cuts on you, " You could have gotten seriously hurt."
"I am here to bring you a smile, 'cause I'm the laughmaker."

You brought out a small mirror Faced it to me and said this
"Your crying face can smile"
Amazingly Indeed I smiled
You brought out a mirror and showed it to Kyo, your cheeks still stained with tears.
"Your crying face is pretty funny, isn't it? I think it would look better if you would smile, you know?" You said, using your free hand to wipe the tears away from your cheek. You held the mirror with the other hand and waited for Kyo to respond, by doing something. You weren't sure if he was going to be angry because you had smashed his window or because you just said that his face was funny. You didn't mean it that way.
"W-" Kyo started to say before shaking his head, "You know what..I think you're right."
And that was when he smiled at you, for the first time.
